Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) was one of the forerunners of post-impressionism, although he was not successful in his lifetime. He only sold one painting while he was a painter.

The “Sunflowers” is a series of paintings created during his stay in Arles, France. The Mediterranean sun and his yellow house inspired him in these paintings. The series tried to show sunflowers in all their stages, from full bloom to pansits. The paintings were intended to decorate his home for the visits of his friend Paul Gauguin.
