Johannes Vermeer of Delft (1632 – 1675), was a Dutch painter. His work consisted mainly of interior paintings and intimate scenes, mainly middle-class domestic scenes. He was very meticulous in the treatment of light and the rendering of perspective effects.

During his life he was recognized above all in Delft and The Hague, where he always lived, with moderate success. But he made his living mainly as an art dealer.

“La noia de la perla” is one of his most famous works, also known as the “Mona Lisa of the North”.
