Edvard Munch (1863-1944), of Norwegian origin, is an outstanding figure of expressionism. His work is characterized by his intense exploration of themes such as anxiety, death and melancholy, reflecting a deep emotional sensitivity. Munch lived a childhood marked by tragedy, losing his mother and sister at a very young age, which significantly influenced his art. “The Scream”, is his best-known work. Although his work was not always understood and faced criticism during his lifetime, Munch persevered in his unique style and received worldwide recognition before his death, cementing his legacy as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.
